Find out your missing product key
Windows Product Key Viewer is a free software utility that can easily show you the product keys you need to see. Developed by RJL Software, this single-purpose tool will retrieve the product key of your installed Windows operating system, as well as other important system information. However, other than this, there’s nothing much else the program can do and you will probably end up deleting it eventually.
A product key is a 25-character code required to activate your Windows PC during installation. This code verifies that your copy of Windows OS hasn't been used on more PCs than the Microsoft Software License Terms allow. Usually, Windows 10 activates automatically using a digital license and doesn't require you to enter a product key. However, older operating systems do and if you ever have to reinstall, you will still need your product key.
This can be a huge hassle as Windows doesn’t actually display your code—it can be found on your installation disk or proof of purchase and losing that will be a pain in the neck. Fortunately, the Windows Product Key Viewer was designed to fix this problem. The tool will simply retrieve the code and allow you to copy it to a text file or print it for a physical copy.
It will also give you other information, such as the full Windows version, service packs, product ID, installation date and time, the registered user, the VMWare and organization, and the current Windows uptime. This tool only works on Windows 95, 98, ME, NT, 2000, 2003, XP, Vista, 7, 8, 2008, and 10. It’s easy to use and there’s no need to install it.
For only one time
All in all, Windows Product Key Viewer is definitely a handy lightweight tool. However, it doesn’t often bear a second use since it allows you to store the product key details somewhere safer and easier to access. The next time you’ll probably run it again is when you’ve lost the code once more and need to reinstall your operating system again.
